- About This Store
-
Tai Cheong Bakery, founded in 1954 by egg tart Master Au Yeung's uncle, is known for its cookie crust for egg tarts. Au Yeung took over the bakery and further refined recipes he learned from his previous work in a hotel. The bakery gained popularity among locals and foreigners, especially when Chris Patten, the governor of Hong Kong at the time, frequented the original outlet. Tai Cheong Bakery expanded to Singapore through a partnership with The Food People Pte Ltd, initially starting as pop-up stores before establishing a permanent location. The bakery continues to be well-received in both Hong Kong and Singapore.

Reviews - What People Think About This Shop

Based on the customer reviews, the overall customer experience of the place can be summarized as follows:
The egg tarts are a standout item, particularly the pandan flavor. However, some customers found the tart shell to be too fragile. The price of the egg tarts was seen as expensive compared to other options available.
Despite this, customers would still purchase the egg tarts if there was no queue. The service provided by the staff, particularly a cheerful auntie at the counter, was highly praised. The vibrant lighting and interior design of the shop caught customers' attention.
There were mixed reviews regarding the crust, with some finding it soft and weak, making it difficult to eat. The taste of the tarts was considered average. Some customers mentioned that the price of the tarts had increased over the years.
Coconut tarts were also mentioned as a nice option, while the pandan tarts could have a stronger pandan taste. Overall, the place was enjoyed by many, with delicious egg tarts being a family favorite. The freshness of the tarts and the friendly staff were appreciated, as well as the cleanliness of the outlet.
