Hiroto Nakamura founded Afuri in Tokyo in 2003 and has since expanded to stores in Portugal and Canada. Takahashi Kenichi, CEO of Japan Foods Holding, worked to bring Afuri to Singapore beginning in 2012. The Singapore location, called Afuri ramen + dumplings, opened in 2019. Afuri differentiates itself from competitors by using yuzu, a small citrus fruit native to Asia, in their signature ramen. The ramen is prepared to Japan's specifications, featuring a thin, light, and refined noodle soaked in broth made from ingredients like chicken, kombu, dried bonito, and a dash of yuzu for a refreshing twist. The pork slices used in the ramen are cooked locally over lava stones. Afuri also offers dumplings with a crispy thin crust. The restaurant's philosophy is to share their passion for quality food and contribute to the community. They strive for excellence and aim to provide customers with a satisfying dining experience.
