Sheng Siong Supermarket was founded in 1985 by the Lim brothers in Singapore. The brothers started by selling chilled pork in a stall they rented at a supermarket chain store in Ang Mo Kio. When the store owner faced financial difficulties and put up the stores for sale, the Lim brothers took the opportunity to take over the store where they were operating their pork stall with seed capital from their father. They entered the retail business and the original store at BLK 122 is still in operation today, marking the beginning of Sheng Siong's story.
