The Yishun Public Library was originally opened at Yishun Street 22 above the Sembawang Town Council on February 26, 1998. It was officially inaugurated by Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, who was the Minister of State for Law & Home Affairs at that time and also the Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC. Later, in 2008, the library was relocated to the Northpoint Shopping Centre, where it underwent renovations and was reopened on February 3, 2018.
